ASSOCIATED COMPOSERS

Félicien relentlessly defends, from project to project, the need to create a new repertoire around his instrument. Since his meeting in 2017 with the composer Thibault Perrine, he has been involved in a process of commissions and regular creations.

« I am convinced that the accordion can be a vector for the renewal of classical music, a catalyst for new creations. Today’s composers, when they meet it, fall under its spell and that’s a chance! »

In six years, he has called upon many composers of today, often from diverse aesthetics: Fabien Waksman, Thierry Escaich, Domi Emorine, Thomas Enhco, Karol Beffa, Jean-François Zygel, Corentin Apparailly, Stéphane Delplace, Cyrille Lehn, Patrice d’Ollone and Thibault Perrine of course.

Félicien has also worked with talented arrangers who have agreed to revisit great works of the classical repertoire or pieces from the popular register for his instrument. Among them, we can mention Bruno Fontaine, David Venitucci, Lucas Henri or Simon Cochard, but also Thibault Perrine, Cyrille Lehn and Domi Emorine who, beyond their respective compositions, have also made very beautiful arrangements.

Note that in 2023, Félicien will create two new pieces: Perfect Match, a work by Fabien Waksman for trumpet and accordion, and a Concerto for accordion and orchestra by Romain Dumas.

Among the composers Félicien has worked with so far, he has undeniably developed a more specific relationship with three of them. Fabien Waksman, Thibault Perrine, and Thomas Enhco are all three authors of several pieces for accordion at Félicien’s request. A few words about these three personalities and their works for accordion are to be discovered below…
